Incorporating the latest technological advancements such as the Electric Handpiece, Soft Tissue Laser, Diagnostic Laser, Intra-oral Camera, Computerized Imagery and Graphic Charting serve to provide the patient with the utmost in quality care.

Electric-Driven Handpiece

The two most important features that distinguish an electric motor from an air-driven high- or low-speed handpiece are its smooth, quiet operation and its consistently high torque throughout the entire speed range. The torque electric driven handpiece produced by an electric is nothing short of amazing. An air-driven high speed will lose power when put under pressure, but an electric maintains its speed, and this is especially beneficial during gross reduction procedures. There is no "chatter" when removing old metal-based restorations or when prepping for crowns and bridges. The consistent torque allows the dentist to easily produce accurate, defined, and smooth margins, leading to better impressions and perfectly fitting indirect restorations from the laboratory. Since the attachments in an electric system are all gear driven, the dentist experiences quiet operation and less vibration to his hand and concentric cutting on the patient's tooth. To the patient, this yields a far quieter, more desirable experience.

Diode Laser

The diode laser that we use has a wide variety of applications ranging from minor surgeries to treatment of ulcerations or sores in the mouth or on the lips. The laser is most frequently used during a crown procedure in place of retraction cord, which may be uncomfortable, to achieve adequate visualization of the outermost edge of the prepared tooth so that we can fabricate crowns with an exceptional fit. When used for surgery or around a crown, the laser sterilizes the area so that excellent healing is routinely achieved. The laser can also be used to treat symptoms associated with aphthous ulcers (sometimes called canker sores) or herpes sores.

Rotary Endodontics

Rotary endodontics (root canals) is a relatively new alternative to the traditional hand filing procedure.While some initial hand filing is necessary, the rotary instrumentation greatly expedites the overall procedure and provides a very uniform result. The WaveOne system features a reciprocating file movement, which reduces strain and fatigue on the file leading to less likely separation of a portion of the file. This system allows faster, more predictable root canals.

Soft tissue regeneration

Dr. Evan is able to perform minor surgeries using Straumann Emdogain to aid in regeneration of soft tissue and bone in small defects like isolated recession of the gums or exposure of roots on molars. This material is a protein derivative that promotes the formation of new cementum (tooth root material), periodontal ligament, and bone. This material has revolutionized periodontal surgeries and has increased the likelihood of positive results when regeneration was previously much less likely.

Dexis CariVu

While other methods including bitewing X-rays and tactile examination remain the preferred methods of detecting the majority of cavities, sometimes cavities can present themselves in unusual ways. Dexis Carivu The CariVu is a transilluminating camera that shines light on the teeth and can provide additional visual information about the progression or presence of a cavity.This camera shows us areas of demineralization that result from the progression of a cavity. This allows us to make judgments on suspicious areas where cavities may not be obvious or cavities that are still in their early (and potentially reversible) stages. By using this camera as an adjunct to our normal diagnostic tools, we are able to both intercept cavities before they cause further damage and prudently determine early cavities that do not yet require treatment. This camera can also help identify small cracks that predispose teeth to larger fractures.
